Just got back into Mission today! I was staying in Vancouver on the weekend because I went to Cos & Effect, the Convention that replaced Anime evolution this year.
I prepared my costume for about a week and I'm glad I finally got to wear it. While I was proud of the design I made, I think the actual costume I made could have been better (like I said, only worked a week on actually sewing it). Seeing all of the amazing costumes this weekend has only made me want to start working on new cosplay. The next time I'm definitely doing something intricate and not as well known. I want to make something that I'm confident nobody else would be going as but Interesting enough to catch attention from people even if they don't know who the Character is. And like I did with my concept for my Rocket Uniform, I'm keeping that a Secret for now.
But besides that the Convention was awesome. Saw a bunch of friends I hadn't seen since Tsukino Con this year. And for a first time convention there were plenty of great events and the crowds were at a comfortable
size. Our Rocket Skit won "Best in Novice" in the Skit competition (So the Con pretty much paid off itself). I also was involved in an impromptu Final Fantasy Fight Tournament team, and I was a Pawn in the Second game of Cosplay Chess.
I'd definitely want this Convention to happen again...just not at the Same time. As long as Anime Evolution continues next year, I'd love to see Cos & Effect happen at a different time of the year. Between Victoria and Vancouver we usually only get 2 Conventions a year (I've never traveled down to Seattle for Sakura Con and it's other conventions). If Cos & Effect could happen in the Spring or Fall Seasons (like March or November) I t
I took some photos, and my facebook album can be found here: [link]
Anyways, that's all I've got for now. I'm still recovering from yesterday's exhaustion.
As always, Thanks for Reading.
